Lurking has its faults
by RisingEagle ini've been researching prior postings gathering info but mostly reading because i've been 'out' for almost 14 years.
i still have numerous relatives that are still 'in' and when we get together those still in seem to get a sort of kick out of discussing super double secret goings on with 'new light' and changes in the cult.
it's been fun to be able to say, "oh you mean the change in length of the sunday talk?

Talked with an active JW....
by drew sagan ini kept forgetting to post this experience i had about a month ago.
there is an older guy that i know who attends my first congregation.
me and him where both what you would consider 'liberal' jws, not playing by all the rules and having many 'independent thoughts'.

Might be good to keep in touch if you can. You could try and meet him somewhere private. Give him the opportunity to tell you his thoughts, if he chooses. Maybe talk about the new KM article?

by BurnTheShips inyes, i have been working on "the fade" since before my baby was born in january and trying to keep as low a profile as i can.
will be moving out of the neighborhood soon and i had hoped to disappear.
so anyways, leaving the dubs has not made me lose my faith in god or christ.

Sorry they are after you. It is good that your wife is already on the same page as you. Remember the 2 witness rule. If they don't have 2 witnesses, I say deny, deny, deny. Unless you want out? Do you have family in you want to keep contact with? It might be a good idea to check out churches away from your area, if you do not wish to be Dfd.

I can see why they don't want jws to use discussion boards. It isn't going to take long to start thinking for themselves. You can only talk so long about paradise before you start formulating and asking questions. People would feel more free to voice dissenting opinions or ideas because they are anonymous. What they might never voice in person would come out because they can't be sanctioned.
The internet is too hard to control. Mind control only works in a well controlled environment. And Sassy, I love the picture. That alone is enough to make one start asking questions.

Did you have to dress up for meeting?
by ericr ini remember having to dress up for every meeting even the ones during the week.
i had to wear a botton down shirt dress pants, a tie, dress shoes, dress socks and a blazer.
this was also required by my parents to dress up when going door to door.

I absolutely hate to dress up and don't think I will ever wear panty hose again. They have ruined me for life. It is all part of their holier than thou attitude. They might get more attendance if they would just relax a little bit. They don't care if your burning up in the summer or running around in bare legs in the winter (except those oh so warm panty hose). I had several people tell me at the door I was crazy to be out in such weather dressed in such a ridiculous fashion.

I hate it when they try to decide if it's pornea or loose conduct. It is just plain child sexual abuse of a child. That's all we need to know. Thanks for the scans, much appreciated. I agree they are working on damage control too. My dub family still doesn't know anything about the settlements. They won't listen to me if I say anything negative about the dubs.

Fading is good. It gives you time to get yourself together. I have always felt that it puts the ball in your court. Your family is worth whatever irritation you must take. Choose your words carefully and you may be able to help others. After you know the truth about "the truth", you can just smile and chuckle softly to yourself a lot at the "spiritual food".

A bitter experience with my JW sister
by dawn48 inhi, this is very long, sorry, but i need to talk to someone about how i feel.. i'm not a jw although for a short time i studied with them back in 1984 along with my younger sister.
my sister became a jw in 1984 and about that very same time i accepted jesus christ as my savior, but did not become a jw as i disagreed with some of their teachings.
i did and still do attend the church of god.she has four children.

Sounds like a break, like your husband said, might be the best thing for now. Don't look at it as permanent, just allowing her the space she says she wants. I know it is hard, but your husband is right.

Girls of that age are quite fickle and can treat others with little disregard for their feelings. Have you heard of the movie, "Mean Girls"? I raised a daughter and watched as her and her friends would turn on one girl then gang up and turn on each other. Didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason, they can be very mean spirited though.
The good thing is that they eventually outgrow this stage (most of them). You might try looking at girls a little older or just wait and see if she changes her mind, if you are really hung up on her. JWs make it so hard on teenagers, so I feel for you. Any way to get through highschool and into college pretty quickly? Sounds like you need to have some live interaction with others your age.
Hang in there. It does get better.

We are we almost all black now? Especially CO's.
by coaster infor the past couple of years at my district conventions, i have been unable to actually listen to most of it, so my mind is in many places.
one such place was to count people in several of the other sections as to blacks and whites.
section 132..42 white and 137 black, section 133..36 white and 144 black, and so on.

Where I live, there has never been a block CO in the past 30 years. The only black DO was yours truly who is on the gov. body now. I remember him giving a talk at a assembly and raking the young black brothers over the coals for having designs cut into their haircuts, as this was the style. He said it was a racial thing to do and carried on for quite a whole. I felt sorry for the young black brothers as it was only a line or two and as I said, was stylish.
